Cheerleaders
The University of Louisville co-ed cheerleading squad has won 14 National Cheerleading Association Championships (1985, '86, '89, '92, '94, '96, '98, '99, '03, '04, '05, '07, two in '08).
Ladybirds
The University of Louisville Ladybirds dance team won its seventh national title in 2008, making back-to-back titles for the squad after the win in 2007.
U of L Athletics Pep Band
The University of Louisville Pep Band has long been regarded as one of the nation's finest. Under the direction of U of L Director of Pep Bands Al Greener, the musical cheerleaders are a highly visible source of spirit at Cardinal basketball and volleyball events.
Cardinal Bird
The University of Louisville's athletic symbol, chosen sometime after 1913, is a Cardinal. The Cardinal bird was chosen to give U of L statewide identification, since the Cardinal is the state bird of Kentucky. |
