2010: Caitlin Welch worked her way into the starting libero spot as a freshman. She led the team with 457 digs on the season (3.84/set) and was second on the team with 24 aces. Early in the season, she recorded 18 digs against Butler during the Arizona Wildcat Classic to go along with 17 against #24 Arizona. She finished with 15 digs at Wright State, 13 digs against both Kentucky and Ohio University to go along with 12 against North Dakota State. She recorded 16 digs against #5 Illinois during the BIG EAST/Big Ten Challenge. At her best against the best, she averaged 3.78 digs/set against ranked teams. With 19 digs against Notre Dame, she added 13 digs during the win against DePaul. She set a new career-high with 23 digs, the most by a Cardinal this season, during UofL's victory over Cincinnati. She contributed with 14 digs against Lipscomb and 10 against Georgetown. She notched her first double-double of her career when she recorded 21 digs to go along with 10 assists against USF and he recorded her 250th career dig against USF. She had 18 digs at #22 Tennessee to go along with 19 against Villanova. Adding 20 digs against the Panthers, she followed it up with 15 at West Virginia. She notched 17 digs against Marquette and 20 digs against Syracuse and tied her career-high with 23 digs against Seton Hall in the opening round of the BIG EAST Tournament. Following up her opening round performance at the BIG EAST Tournament with 19 digs, she had her 14th straight match with at least 10 digs. She posted nine digs against Cincinnati during the championship of the BIG EAST Tournament. She averaged 4.64 digs per set during the BIG EAST Tournament and recorded 21 digs against Austin Peay during the BIG EAST/OVC Showdown.

High School: Caitlin Welch, a libero from Mercy Academy in Louisville was a member of the two-time reigning state championship team. She is a two-time first team all-state member and this year was the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Most Valuable Player. Named the Region 6 player of the Year as a senior, her team at Mercy Academy finished with 36 wins to just 6 losses. During her junior year, Caitlin's team only lost one match and finished with an impressive 40 wins en route to their second placed national finish. Caitlin is a member of the all-district and all-region teams for all four years of her high school career. She is also a three-time AAU All-American, and a four time member of the Berkeley Premier All-Tournament Team. Prep Volleyball named her a Top 20 Defensive Dandy and a Senior Ace.
