2002: Sonja played in the first three matches of 2002 before being injured early in the fourth match against Georgia Tech. She earned Player of the Week honors for leading U of L to an upset of No. 6 ranked Arizona when she had 18 kills and five aces. She was hitting .392 when she was hurt.

2001: Sonja earned All-Midwest Region, First Team All-C-USA and Conference USA All-Tournament team honors in 2001. She led the team with 611 kills on 1,385 attempts. She had 19 service aces and 197 digs. She was ranked as high as No. 18 in the NCAA for kills per game with a 4.9 average. She hit .277 and helped the Cardinals be ranked nationally in hitting at No. 27 overall. She was in double digit kills in all but one match (when she had nine). She tied her own school record with 32 kills against South Florida. She had a season high 57 attacks versus Cincinnati. Although defenses attempt to key on her, she had her biggest games against some of UofL's most difficult opponents. She had 20 kills against Pacific and 24 versus Georgia Tech in the NCAA. She had a season high four aces against UW-Milwaukee and 18 digs against South Florida.

2000: Sonja was the designated hitter for the Cardinals. Playing all but one match, she was in the top ten in hitting percentage in C-USA rankings with 310 kills on 695 attacks for a .259 hitting percentage. She had 15 matches in double digit kills, led by 21 versus Saint Louis.

1999: Sonja earned a starting role with the Cards. She gathered C-USA Co-Freshman of the Year honors as well as making the C-USA All-Freshman team. She was the only Cardinal to make the All-Tournament team. She earned All-Shamrock Invitational honors at Notre Dame. Compared to freshmen of the last decade here at U of L, she had the highest number of kills and attacks. She had double-digit kills in 20 of her 26 matches with a record-tying 32 at Kentucky. She had 20-plus kills in nine matches. She was second on the team with 419 kills averaging a team-high 4.5 per game. She hit .225 with 17 aces and had 225 digs. High School --Her high school finished first in Croatia in 1998 her senior year.

Club: Her club team finished first in the Junior Championship in 1999 where she was named Outstanding Hitter. She played in the 1998 European Championship match. Her team finished first in the Cadet Championship in 1997 and placed first in the Junger Cadet in 1993.

Personal: Daughter of Alfredo and Milena Percan. Born May 8, 1981. She earned a bachelor's in marketing and is now pursuing an MBA.
