High School: Nicole lettered four years in volleyball for Coach Faith Wilder-Newland at Columbus East. Bateman will add to the squad with her athleticism and versatility. She was a first team All-State selection in 2003 and 2004 and a member of the South All-Star Team in 2003 and 2004. As a three-time First Team All-Conference performer, she was the MVP in 2004. As the role model athlete for the IHSAA, she appeared in radio, television commercials, posters and mailings for the sport of volleyball in Indiana. She led the team in both kills and digs in 2002, '03 and '04. She was named Most Improved Player in 2002, Rookie of the Year in 2001 and led her team in service aces in 2003 and 2004. She was a standout in Circle City's Club where she played for Mark Britner.
