Matt Lawicki enters his fourth season as assistant coach, fifth overall, with the University of Louisville lacrosse program.

As the team's offensive coordinator, he has helped to develop and establish the Cardinals' offense as one of the premier in the nation.

In 2010, Louisville ranked No. 1 in the BIG EAST in goals per game, finishing the year No. 3 in the nation in scoring offense (14.71 goals per game). Individually, he guided Bergan Foley to the top-ranking nationally in goals (78) and goals per game (4.94) and helped Katie Oliverio become the nation's leader in assists per game (2.71). In the previous two seasons, the Cardinals combined to score 455 goals and witnessed Foley become the national leader in goals per game (4.07).

Lawicki came to Louisville with head coach Kellie Young in 2006 to start the lacrosse program. Previously, he worked at JMU in the summer of 2005 and was instrumental in the Dukes' 15-5 season in 2006, which included sweeping the Colonial Athletic Association regular-season and tournament titles and an appearance in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament.

Prior to joining the staff at JMU, he was an assistant at Davidson in 2004-05 and served as head coach (2003-04) and assistant coach (2001-03) for Cal Poly's club women's lacrosse program in San Luis Obispo, Calif. He guided Cal Poly to the 2004 U.S. Lacrosse Intercollegiate Associates IA national championship and the Western Women's Lacrosse league championship. The team compiled a 17-1 record and produced the national player of the year and five All-America honorees.

Lawicki has served nationally as the coaches' representative to the executive council of U.S. Lacrosse and served on the organization's national rankings and national recognition committees in 2003-04. Lawicki also was an active member of the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association's mentor program.

The Southern California native holds a bachelor's degree in art and design from Cal Poly.
