Women's Golf Moves Up Five Spots to Finish Tied For Fifth at the Las Vegas Collegiate

Las Vegas, Nev. - The Louisville women's golf team moved up five spots to finish tied for fifth on Wednesday afternoon in the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown at the Boulder Creek Golf Club. The Cardinals shot a 293 in the final round to finish in a three way tie for fifth place with a score of 891. UC Davis won the tournament with a score of 869. San Diego State and Pepperdine finished second with a score of 884.

Sophomore Tara Lyons shot a 75 in the final round to move up 18 spots. Lyons finished tied at 20th with a score of 222. Grace Na of Pepperdine took medalist honors with a score of 209.

Junior Anna-Karin Ljungstrom led the Cardinals with a low round of 72 on the day. Ljungstrom finished tied for 26th with a score of 225. Freshman Emily Haas carded a 79 in the final round. Haas finished tied for 31st with a score of 226.

Redshirt freshman Katie Petrino shot a 76 in the final round. Petrino also finished tied for 31st with a score of 226. Senior Maria Castellanos shot an 82 in the final round. She finished tied for 36th with a score of 227.

Three Cardinals competed in the tournament as individuals. Redshirt Sara Karlsson shot an 81 in the final round to finish tied for 55th with a score of 232.

Sophomore Maike Klein shot an 84 in the final round to also finish at 55th with a score of 232. Junior Candice Wiley shot an 82 in the final round to finish tied at 80th with a score 242.

 

 

The tournament wraps up the fall season for the Cardinals. The Cardinals will begin the spring season on Feb. 20, 2012 at the UNLV Spring Tournament.
