LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - The 11th-ranked University of Louisville field hockey team will open BIG EAST Conference play at No. 3 Syracuse Friday, Sept. 19 at 2 p.m. The matchup will serve as the league-opener for both teams and will mark the sixth consecutive top 20 opponent the Cards have faced this season. U of L will also face a tough New Hampshire team on Saturday at 12 p.m.

The Cardinals (3-2) are coming off of a 4-2 loss at No. 8 Virginia and are in the midst of a challenging schedule in which they have yet to play a team ranked outside of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association top 20. Louisville is led offensively by junior Kayla May's 10 points (5G). Sophomore Tuli Lim follows with eight points (4G) and sophomore Nicole Youman rounds out the top three with seven points (2G, 3A).

Syracuse (6-0) has had an impressive season with wins over then-No. 8 Old Dominion, No. 10 Michigan State and top-ranked Maryland. The Orange have outscored their opponents 35-6 and are led offensively by Martina Locarica's 17 points (5G, 7A). Shannon Taylor (6G, 4A) and Lindsey Conrad (6G, 4A) follow with 16 points each. Louisville owns a 3-2 edge in the series which dates back to 1993.

New Hampshire enters the weekend with a 4-2 record with its only losses coming at the hands of No. 15 American University and No. 10 Michigan State. The Wildcats are coming off of a 4-3 overtime win at Holy Cross on Wednesday. Sarah Craigue's 12 points (5G, 2A) lead the team. This will be the first meeting between Louisville and New Hampshire.

The Cardinals will return home for another BIG EAST Conference matchup against fourth-ranked Connecticut on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 1 p.m.
