COLLEGE PARK, Md. - - The 15th ranked University of Louisville field hockey team closed the regular season with a 4-1 win over No. 12 Stanford Sunday afternoon at the University of Maryland. The Cards (12-7, 4-2 BIG EAST) will travel to Providence for the BIG EAST Conference tournament, where they will face Connecticut Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

Louisville got on the scoreboard midway through the first half when junior Nikki Auker collected a rebound for an unassisted goal at the 15:19 mark. Sophomore Hayley Turner delivered her first unassisted goal of the game at the 23:11 mark to increase the lead to 2-0.

Four minutes later, Stanford's Jaimee Erickson cut the lead to 2-1 when she connected on penalty corner with assists from Nora Soza and Becky Dru. The Cards took the 2-1 into halftime after holding a 10-9 edge in shots, Stanford out-cornered Louisville 7-4 in the first half.

Turner registered her team-leading 15th goal of the season just under four minutes into the second half to add an insurance goal and make the score 3-1. Junior Karah Nall capped the scoring with penalty corner assists from Turner and junior Tuli Lim.

U of L finished the game outshooting Stanford 23-16 while the Cardinal held a 10-9 edge in penalty corners. U of L senior goalkeeper Heather Bustanoby collected eight saves, while Stanford's Alessandra Moss had 13 stops in the game. Stanford falls to 13-4 on the season. .
