Christy Utter is entering her eighth year at the University of Louisville. As the associate coach, she is involved in every aspect of the program, including game and practice preparation, recruiting and camps.

In addition to helping with the success of Team Cardinal, Utter also played an active role in USA Field Hockey's High Performance Training Center. In 2006, she was selected as one of three assistant coaches for the Midwest team and helped guide them to a third place finish in the national championship. The program identifies and trains potential national team athletes through comprehensive training/skill enhancement sessions and premier level competitions.

The Tulsa, Okla. native's previous coaching experiences include a year as a junior varsity field hockey coach and a year as a varsity field hockey coach at the Kinkaid School in Houston, Texas. She was also a head coach for the United States Field Hockey Association Futures development program in Houston. Utter spent five years as the head coach for the USFHA Futures program in the Louisville area. She was an assistant coach and played for the Midwest Cyclones, which placed second in the USFHA United Airlines Field Hockey League in 2002 and fourth in 2003. She also helped in starting and running the Kentuckiana Field Hockey Association (KYFHA), a developmental league for K-6 graders in the Louisville area.

The 1996 University of North Carolina graduate boasts an impressive playing resume as well. During her time at North Carolina, the Tarheels won back-to-back NCAA field hockey championships in 1995 and 1996. She was co-captain of the 1996 team. As a center back, Utter earned ACC All-Conference honors in 1996 and was selected to the NCAA All-tournament team in 1995 when the Tarheels capped off an undefeated season with a national championship. She was also named South Region All-American in 1995.

Utter earned her master's degree in Sport Administration at the University of Louisville in 2004.
