Louisville, Ky. - Senior forward Laura Terry will serve as a student assistant women's basketball coach for the 2010-11 season. Terry took a medical hardship this season after having extensive surgery to her knee over the last two years.

"I'm excited to have Laura continue to be a vital part of our program," said head coach Jeff Walz. "The opportunity to serve as a student assistant will help Laura prepare for her ultimate goal of becoming a college coach. She is a terrific young lady whose playing career unfortunately was cut short by injuries. Even though she won't be in uniform I know she will make significant contributions to our team."

The senior injured her knee in December of her sophomore season and had her first knee surgery; she did return to the court late in the year but saw limited action. She had extensive surgery to replace the cartilage in her knee after the Cardinals' Final Four appearance. She returned to the court her junior year but saw action in just 11 games before ending the season with her third knee surgery. Terry played in 64 games with the Cardinals and started in eight. She finishes her career averaging 2.5 points while shooting 51.9 percent from the field.
