"It wasn't a pretty win," said Walz. "But it was a good road win against a very good Dayton team. I am happy with the win but we still have some work to do. Now we just need to enjoy the win on the bus ride home and then put it behind us and prepare for another tough road game at Hartford."

The first half saw six lead changes and five ties. Dayton jumped out to a 3-0 lead to start the game but the Cardinals kept it close taking their first lead of the game off a layup by Johnson at the 14:14 mark. The Flyers regained the lead off a 3-pointer by De'Sarae Chambers with just over 11 minutes remaining in the game.

The lead changed two more times before Reid and Keshia Hines hit back-to-back jumpers to take a four point lead at the 8:16 minute mark. The Flyers kept it close and took a 24-23 lead off two free throws from Brittany Taylor with just over four minutes remaining in the half. The Cards took the lead again on the next possession with two free throws from Taylor. Louisville kept the lead until Ross hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to tie the game at 30 to end the half.
