FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - University of Louisville senior Cory Thorne and redshirt-junior Tone Belt became the 10th and 11th Outdoor All-Americans in men's program history on day three of the 2009 NCAA Track and Field Championships at John McDonnell Field.

"This is a great honor for Thorne and Belt to become All-Americans," said U of L head Coach Ron Mann. "We are excited about their accomplishments and are proud of their efforts. Our coaching staff has done a tremendous job working with them and all of our athletes as we continue to build this program into a national power."

Thorne finished seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase final to nab the first All-American honor of the day with a time of 8:45.86, fifth fastest in school history. The Portsmouth, N.H. native set the school record on two separate occasions this season and had not lost in the event - winning the BIG EAST and NCAA Mideast Regional titles. He previously earned Cross Country All-American accolades in 2007.

Tone Belt

In the high jump, Belt placed seventh with a cleared height of 7-01.50 (2.17m) on his third attempt. Belt took home his fourth All-American award and second in the high jump to cap the third day of competition for the Cards. The BIG EAST Champion and runner-up at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships in the event entered ranked no. 9 in the nation. It was his second best mark of the season.

For the women, senior Seidre Forde had her collegiate career come to an end with a 21st place finish in the triple jump. Forde had a leap of 41-10 (12.75m) on her third and final attempt but it was not enough to qualify for the finals. The Green's St. George, Barbados native earned an at-large bid for her second straight appearance to the national championships and entered ranked no. 24 on the NCAA list. She was forced to withdraw from the competition last year due to an aggravation of a preexisting leg injury. Forde will leave her mark in the record books as she owns the school record in the triple jump (43-09.75/13.35m) and a share of the school's best in the long jump (20-05.25/6.23m).

The Cardinal men picked up four points and are tied for 41st heading into the final day. No. 2 Oregon is in the lead with 36 points, followed by no. 5 LSU in second with 30 points. No. 7 USC is in third place with 22 points. For the women, no. 2 Oregon collected 39 points for the lead. No. 7 USC sits in second with 21 points, while no. 4 Arizona State, no. 6 Florida State and no. 10 Texas are tied for third with 20 points.

The Cards begin the final day of competition at 10:00 a.m. CT with Andrew Hackney in the men's discus final and will be followed by Jere' Summers in the women's discus final at noon.
