BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - - The University of Louisville men's tennis is off to a solid start, with nine wins in the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Main Draw.

Austen Childs, Viktor Maksimcuk, Simon Childs advanced to the second round of the main draw, while Andrew Carter, Tim Barnoud and Alejandro Calligari lost their first round matches, but went on the win in the consolation draw. After receiving first round byes, the Cards also won all three doubles matches played.

"Austen, Simon and Viktor showed today why they are nationally ranked," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "They all played with a lot of authority and are off to a good start."

In main draw singles, Austen Childs defeated Ball State's Eduardo Pavia 6-3, 6-2. Maksimcuk topped Xavier's Richard Canelas 6-0, 6-3. Simon Childs beat Indiana's Maxime Armengaud 7-5, 7-6(5).

In doubles action, Calligari and Hall teamed to beat Butler's Andrew Bayliss and Brandon Bayliss 8-3. Maksimcuk and Carter defeated Wright State's Nick Camilleri and Tore Waldhausen 8-5. The tandem of Childs and Childs beat Kentucky's Alex Lambropoulos and Alberto Gonzalez 8-5.
