The No. 13/17 Louisville men's soccer team will host the Courtyard by Marriott East Cardinal Classic presented by Mockingbird Valley Soccer Club on Friday and Sunday Sept. 11 and 13 at Cardinal Park. The tournament features Kentucky, Illinois Chicago and SIU Edwardsville.
Kentucky (2-0-0) will kick off the tournament against Illinois Chicago (0-1-1) on Friday at 5:00 p.m. Then the Cardinals (2-0-0) will host SIU Edwardsville (1-1-0) in their home opener at 7:30 p.m.
Then on Sunday Kentucky will play SIU Edwardsville at 2:00 p.m. The Cardinals will then host Illinois Chicago at 5:00 p.m. for a nationally televised game on Fox Soccer. The game is also part of the Pack the House game, the first 200 kids will receive a Louisville Soccer water bottle and the first 150 students will receive a rally towel.
The Cardinals return to action after winning the UK Invitational last weekend with a 3-0 win over Bowling Green on Friday night and a 2-0 win over IUPUI on Sunday afternoon. The Cardinals moved up the rankings this week to No. 13 in the Soccer America Poll and No. 17 in the adidas/NSCAA Coaches Poll. Senior Freddie Braun leads the team in scoring with two goals for four points. Cardinal keeper Andre Boudreaux owns a season goals against average of 0.00 and nine saves.
The team will be hosting a free clinic on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the McDonald's practice field. The clinic is being held for boys and girls from 1st through 8th grade.
