The 23rd ranked Louisville men's soccer team defeated Bradley 1-0 on Tuesday evening in Cardinal Park. The Cardinals improved to 2-0 in exhibition play for the 2009 season.
"Obviously we are still battling through our preseason," said head coach Ken Lolla. "It wasn't the cleanest of games but we did see improvement. We got a lot of guys some quality time. Anytime you can outscore the opponent it is a good thing."
Sophomore Andre Boudreaux played in goal for the Cardinals the first half and collected two saves. The first period ended in a scoreless tie while Bradley finished with four shots and the Cardinals with three.
Redshirt junior David Stockum started in goal for the Cardinals in the second period. The Cardinal defense held Bradley without a shot in the final period while the Cardinals had four shots.
It was the Cards' final shot was the game-winning goal. Freshman Paolo DelPiccolo scored off a rebound in the 89th minute for the win.
Louisville finished the game with a 7-4 shot advantage and a 3-2 corner kick advantage. Bradley's keeper Drew Van Kamepn finished the game with three saves.
The Cardinals will wrap up the exhibition season in Fort Wayne, Ind. on Friday, Aug. 28 against Ohio State at 7:00 p.m.
