Ft. Wayne, Ind. - The University of Louisville men's soccer team defeated Michigan State 2-1 in its final exhibition game. The Cardinals finished exhibition play with a 2-0 record.

The Cardinals struck first when freshman Jimmy Crick found Aaron Clapham to take a 1-0 lead early in the first half. The Spartan's Doug DeMartin tied the game off a pass from Spencer Thompson later in the half.

With one minute remaining in the first half junior Freddie Braun took a pass from John Jonke to score the game winner. Once again Cardinal defense held tough. They held the Spartans scoreless in the second half for the win.

The Cardinals will open up the 2008 season as they host Northeastern on Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. in Cardinal Park. Louisville will host the Courtyard by Marriott East Classic presented by Mockingbird Soccer Club in Cardinal Park on Friday, Aug. 30 and Monday, Sept. 1.
