Nov. 5, 2008
Louisville, Ky - Former University of Louisville All-American golfer Adam Rainaud advanced through the First Stage of the PGA Tour's Qualifying Tournament Saturday at Treyburn Country Club in Durham, NC. Treyburn Country Club was one of 12 first stage locations across the country to host. The top 25 golfers and ties would advance to the Second Stage out of a field of 84. Entering the final round, Rainaud had posted rounds of 73-74-71--218, to sit right on the number at 2 over-par. The 2008 Jim Ferriell, Jr. Award winner for most improved golfer started his final round with nine consecutive pars before making birdie on the par four 10th. After a par on No. 11, Rainaud birdied five of his final seven holes to post a final round score of 6-under par 66 which shot him up the leader board into a tie for eight place. Rainaud now prepares for the Second Stage of "Q-School" to be held at Callaway Gardens outside of Atlanta, GA on November 12 - 15. He will join former U of L All-American, Derek Fathauer, in the field. Based on his play at this summer's United State Open, Fathauer earned an exemption to the Second Stage. Approximately, the top 23 finishers and ties will look to advance to the Final Stage that will be contested December 3 - 8 at PGA West in Palm Springs, CA.
