SAn Diego, Calif. - University of Louisville senior men's golfer Derek Fathauer had an impressive showing in the first round of the 108th US Open Golf Championship on Thursday at Torrey Pines in San Diego, Calif.

Fathauer shot an impressive 73 on Thursday on one of the nation's most difficult golf courses and on a national stage.

The senior from Jensen Beach, Fla., recorded 10 pars, five bogeys and a remarkable three birdies to sit in 31st place after the opening round.

Fathauer tees off at 12:41 p.m. PT (3:41 ET) on Friday afternoon in San Diego.
