    MIAMI - The fifth-ranked University of Louisville football team continued its preparations for the 2007 FedEx Orange Bowl with a two-hour practice session Thursday morning at Barry University and then the team enjoyed some fun in the sun at the Orange Bowl Beach Party at the Trump International Sonesta Beach Resort on Thursday afternoon.

    The Cards practiced in full pads for the first time and held their second practice overall since arriving in Miami on Dec. 26. Following the practice session several Cardinal players and assistant coaches met with television and newspaper reporters at the practice site.

    Following practice, the Cardinal players and coaches returned to the team hotel and enjoyed some time on the sand meeting with fans and relaxing on the beach and in the Atlantic Ocean during the Orange Bowl Beach Party.

    UofL head coach Bobby Petrino opened the day at the first official FedEx Orange Bowl press conference in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Petrino and Wake Forest head coach Jim Grobe each met with reporters for more than 30 minutes previewing next week's game and reviewing the 2006 season.

    The BIG EAST champion Cardinals will face ACC champion Wake Forest on Tuesday, Jan. 2 at 8:23 p.m. ET at Dolphin Stadium and UofL's first Bowl Championship Series game will be televised nationally on FOX-TV.

    UofL will continue preparations for the FedEx Orange Bowl on Friday at 10 a.m. ET at Barry University.
