ORLANDO, Fla. - University of Louisville junior Art Carmody captured the 2006 Lou Groza Award, which is presented to the nation's top placekicker. The award was announced during Thursday night's 2006 Home Depot College Football Awards Show.

Carmody, a native of Shreveport, La., made 20-of-23 field goal attempts and all 57 of his extra point tries this season for the Cardinals.

John Vaughn of Auburn University and Garrett Hartley of Oklahoma University were the other finalists. Alexis Serna of Oregon State won the award in 2005.

Up next, the BIG EAST champion and No. 5 ranked Cards will meet ACC champion and 15th ranked Wake Forest in the FedEx Orange Bowl on Jan. 2, 2007 at Dolphin Stadium in Miami, Fla.
