LOUISVILLE - The University of Louisville worked out for three hours on Tuesday in what was the longest practice of the summer so far.

The Cardinals went out about 3:30 p.m. and left a little before 6:30 p.m. They scrimmaged once again during the end of practice, which closed with live tackling.

Head coach Steve Kragthorpe put the team through game-like situtations like blitz period and third and short-yardage. He closed practice with the one offense and one defense going head-to-head.

Tight end Gary Barnidge opened the scrimmage with a long pass play from Brian Brohm. Running back Anthony Allen scored from a yard out.

Junior linebacker Willie Williams went through his second straight day of practice and looks to be back in rare form. He was the first player down on every kickoff and made a number of plays in pass skelly.

Bilal Powell continues to impress. He made upper class linebacker miss him numerous times in a tackling drill. It was pretty mind-boggling that this kid is a freshman.

The team remains healthy and will conduct its third two-a-day on Wednesday. The team will also scrimmage again Wednesday night.
