LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Highly-touted freshman Samarado Samuels led all scorers with 36 points, while pulling down a game-high 16 rebounds in the Red's 97-80 win over the White team in Louisville's annual Red-White intrasquad scrimmage held Sunday night at Freedom Hall in front of 11,600.

Freshman Jared Swopshire added 21 points, seven rebounds, and five assists for the Red team. Reginald Delk had 11 points and nine boards, while Andre McGee chipped in with nine points, eight rebounds, and dished out a game-high eight assists.

Pacing the white team was junior Earl Clark with 30 points and 14 rebounds. Terrence Jennings had 18 points and game-high four steals. Edgar Sosa and Kyle Kuric added 12 and seven, respectively.

"Well we got a lot out of our first scrimmage, even though it's a Red-White Scrimmage," said Cards' Head Coach Rick Pitino. "We got a lot out of what we wanted to do. Let's just try to play nonstop basketball and get our guys into shape to play that way."

After holding a 43-35 halftime lead, the Red team pulled away to an easy victory behind Samuels whose dominating presence proved to be the difference as he finished the night 13-for-22 from the field and 10-of-12 at the line.

Senior Terrence Williams did not play in the scrimmage due to a knee injury.

The Cards are set to begin their two-game exhibition schedule on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 1:30 p.m. ET at Freedom Hall against Georgetown College. They conclude with an exhibition road game on Nov. 8 against Northern Kentucky.

Louisville tips off the regular season campaign at home on Saturday, Nov. 22 against Morehead State in the first of two games of the Billy Minardi Classic. The game time will be announced at a later date pending the kick off time for U of L's home football game against West Virginia.
