LOUISVILLE, Ky. -
The University of Louisville will stage a pair of fan events surrounding the Cardinals' initial men's basketball practice session of the 2002-03 season on Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Kentucky International Convention Center.
First up on the day's activities is the annual Basketball Tipoff Luncheon featuring U of L Coach Rick Pitino. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. with the event beginning at noon in Hall 2D of the Convention Center. Tickets to the event are $25 each or $200 for a table of eight. Immediately following the luncheon, U of L will stage its "Matinee Madness," a fan event surrounding the Cardinals' initial full practice session of the 2002-03 season. Doors open to the basketball arena in Hall 2C of the Convention Center at 1:30 p.m. Fan participation contests, special appearances by former players, video presentations and other entertainment will precede the practice session, which begins at 2:30 p.m.
The first 1,000 U of L students may obtain free tickets to Matinee Madness by attending an evening of U of L sporting events on Oct. 2 in Cardinal Park: women's soccer faces Murray State at 5 p.m., field hockey plays Indiana at 7 p.m. and men's soccer plays Kentucky at 7 p.m.
Tipoff luncheon attendees may purchase up to two advance tickets per luncheon ticket to Matinee Madness. Tickets, priced at $5, will be available to the public on Oct. 3 at 9 a.m. at the U of L Ticket Office located near Gate 2 of Papa John's Cardinal Stadium adjacent to Floyd Street.
