Pitino Previews Saturday's BIG EAST Showdown at Top 10 Georgetown

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville men's basketball head coach Rick Pitino and sophomore guard Edgar Sosa met with members of the media Thursday at the Yum! Center to preview Saturday's BIG EAST showdown at Georgetown. The No. 12-ranked Cardinals and No. 10 Hoyas will tip off at noon ET at the MCI Center in Washington, D.C., and the game will be televised nationally by CBS, with the winner of the game clinching the BIG EAST regular-season title. The Cards enter Saturday's game at 24-6 overall and tied atop the BIG EAST standings with the Hoyas with a 14-3 conference record following last Sunday's 68-54 home win over Villanova as senior Juan Palacios led the Cards with 13 points in his final game at Freedom Hall. Overall, the Cards have won nine straight games and 15 of the last 17, including a 59-51 win over Georgetown on Feb. 9 at Freedom Hall. The Hoyas enter Saturday's game at 24-4 overall and 14-4 in BIG EAST play following 70-68 overtime win at then No. 21 Marquette last Saturday. Roy Hibbert and Jonathan Wallace each scored 20 points to lead the Hoyas in that game, their fourth straight win overall.
Five Georgetown players average better than nine points a game, led by 7-2 senior Roy Hibbert (13.6 ppg, 6.4 rpg) and 6-8 sophomore DaJuan Summers (11.3 ppg, 5.6 rpg). Georgetown leads the nation in field goal percentage defense (.362), and is fourth in scoring defense (57.5 ppg) and 18th in field goal percentage (.482).
