Van Treese Out Indefinitely For UofL Basketball

Valuable front line reserve reinjured his left knee

Sophomore Year:

  • Averaged 4.2 points and 4.6 rebounds in BIG EAST games, scoring in double figures in three league games. He has started 12 games, including 11 BIG EAST games.
  • His 70.5 percent field goal accuracy (31-of-44) in league games was among the BIG EAST leaders before he dropped below the per-game minimum.
  • Grabbed at least one steal in 15 games as a sophomore (21 total).
  • Scored 10 points and had three rebounds and a steal against Marquette (Jan. 15).
  • Produced career highs of 14 rebounds and 12 points against USF in his second career start, marking his first career double-double.
  • His game fit well with the Cards' up-tempo style, surpassing his totals in every category from his freshman season.
  • A stomach virus kept him out of practice in mid-February and limited his effectiveness against Notre Dame.
  • Pulled down 10 rebounds against Seton Hall and scored four points in the game, his first double-digit rebounding effort.

Freshman Year:

  • Saw action in 15 games as a freshman.
  • Played a solid six minutes in the first half against UConn when Samardo Samuels and Terrence Jennings were both in foul trouble, producing two points and a steal.
  • Scored his first collegiate basket against East Tennessee State (11/21) while playing five minutes in that game, adding two rebounds and a blocked shot.
  • Grabbed three rebounds in four minutes vs. Charlotte.

High School:

  • Averaged 12.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.0 blocked shots as a senior in helping Indianapolis North earn a 25-3 record and the regional finals, where it lost to Franklin Central.
  • AP All-State selection (second team) and a first team all-county honoree as a senior.
  • A three-year starter at Lawrence North, Van Treese was ranked No. 67 nationally by USA Today analyst Rob Harrington and was listed No. 37 among the nation's top power forwards by Scout.com. He was honored on the Indianapolis Star's 2008 Super Team.
  • Averaged 11.6 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists as a junior when Lawrence North posted an 18-6 record and reached the sectional finals.
  • Member of the Indiana All-Star team following his senior year which swept Kentucky in the two-game series.
  • Scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Black Squad in the 2009 Wazoo Sports Derby Festival Classic All-Star game played in Freedom Hall.
  • Also received interest from Ohio State and UCLA.
