COLUMBIA, Mo. - Jorge Castillo drove in four runs to lead the University of Louisville to an 8-7 win over Miami (FL), eliminating the Hurricanes from the Columbia Regional and setting up a re-match with Missouri at 7:30 p.m. Sunday night. If the Cards were to win Sunday, the same two teams would meet again on Monday at 2:00 p.m. ET to determine the winner of the Regional. A loss would advance the Tigers to the Super Regional.

With the loss, the Hurricanes failed to advance to a Super Regional for the first time in 13 years.

The Cardinals (42-21) loaded the bases in the bottom of the first on consecutive singles by Boomer Whiting and Logan Johnson and a walk to Daniel Burton. An out later Jorge Castillo hammered the first pitch to the gap in right, clearing the bases for a 3-0 Cardinal lead.

Miami got on the board in the third on a one out solo home run by catcher Richard O'Brien, and Mark Sobolewski's two-run shot to left knotted the game at three.

Pete Rodriguez doubled down the left field line with one down in the fourth and after moving to third on a wild pitch he scored on an error by Miami pitcher Eric Erickson in a rundown after Rodriguez was caught off of third on a botched squeeze, putting the Cards up 4-3.

The Canes (37-24) recaptured the lead in the fifth on an RBI fielder's choice by Dave Dinatale and an RBI single off the bat of Roger Tomas.

Burton doubled to right center leading off the fifth and scored on an RBI single by Isaiah Howes, tying the game at five. After Castillo reached on a fielder's choice, Chris Dominguez unloaded his eighth home run of the season, putting the Cards on top for good, 7-5.

Whiting singled and stole second in the sixth and eventually came home on a two-out, 0-2 single by Castillo, making it 8-5 U of L.

A Tomas sac fly in the seventh and a solo home run by Dennis Raben nudged UM to within one, but Trystan Magnuson shut the door on Miami to notch his ninth save of the season.

James Belanger started for the Cards, and lasted four plus innings, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks, striking out two. He gave way to Zack Pitts who picked up the win, improving his record to 9-3 with 2.1 innings of work. He gave up two runs - one earned on three hits, fanning two. The nine wins is third in Cardinal history and his 110.0 innings is second in single season history.

Kyle Hollander notched two-thirds of an inning before Magnuson entered, allowing a run on a hit and a walk, striking out one in two innings. The nine saves is tied for the fourth most in Cardinal history and the 33 appearances is second.

Erickson lost his first decision since March 24. The first team All-ACC pitcher was tagged for seven runs, six of which were earned on nine hits and two walks, striking out five in 4.1 IP. Three Hurricane relievers worked the final 3.2 frames, giving up a run on five hits and two walks.

This is the Cardinals second ever appearance in an NCAA Regional.
