2011: Hit .209 with 15 RBI while playing in 52 games, including 35 starts. Had a hit and a run scored in two of three games against USF. Finished 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored at St. John's on April 16. Was 1-for-4 with career best three RBI and two runs scored in April 2 win over West Virginia. Went 2-for-4 with a run scored and career best two stolen bases in the win over WKU on March 29. Finished with career-best three hits in Cards' March 5 win over Kent State. Had clutch two-run single to right to add insurance runs in the 3-0 win over Minnesota on Feb. 20. Made first career start as DH and scored both runs after earning leadoff walks in the Cardinals' 2-0 win over Ohio State on Feb. 19 at BIG EAST/Big Ten Challenge.

High School: Young earned First Team All-League, All-Main Line, All-District and All-County honors during his sophomore, junior and senior seasons at Malvern Prep, where he was coached by Mike Hickey. As a senior, he hit .505 with nine home runs, seven doubles, 13 triples, 36 RBI and 46 runs scored. As a junior, he earned All-Southeastern Pennsylvania honors while hitting .444 with four home runs, 53 runs scored and 23 RBI. As a sophomore, he hit .343, reached base by walk or hit-by-pitch 62 times and scored 51 runs as an integral part of Malvern's impressive 40-3 season and No. 8 national ranking by Baseball America. He departed Malvern as the school record holder in runs scored in a single season and a career. He participated in the 2008 World Wood Bat Baseball Association Underclass World Championship and the 2008 World Wood Bat Association 16U National Championship. He also played summer baseball for the All-Star Baseball Academy.

Personal: Born Tyler Benjamin Young on July 17, 1992, in Coatesville, Pa. Son of Dean and Kathy Young. Has one sibling, CJ. Majoring in accounting at the University of Louisville. Person with the greatest influence on his athletic career is his dad because he influenced his work ethic and always helped him practice no matter what. Hobbies and outside interests include movies and the Science Channel. Favorite movies are Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump and Avatar. Enjoys watching Baseball Tonight, Seinfeld and Family Guy. Favorite athletes are Derek Jeter and Josh Hamilton. Favorite cereal is Cocoa Krispies. Favorite candy bar is Hershey's with Almonds. Favorite foods are ravioli and burritos. Enjoys eating at Buca di Beppo and Subway. Favorite team is the Philadelphia Phillies. Enjoys listening to rap and country. Favorite quote is "Go ahead, live your life making obstacles. I'll live mine crossing them." If he could eat dinner with three other people he would choose Josh Hamilton, Ozzie Smith and Hugh Hefner. Something not many people know about Ty is that he got the perfect attendance award every year in elementary school.
