Duke: Played two seasons for the Blue Devils. Took the hill 16 times as a sophomore, 12 of which were starts. Struck out nine hitters in only 5.2 innings to pick up the win over Maryland-Eastern Shore(2/13/05) in first career start. Went seven innings and allowed only one run on seven hits while striking out five and walking only one against Maryland(4/17). Tied for the team lead with 21 appearances as a freshman, ten of which were scoreless.

High School: Three-year letterwinner at Westminster Christian, earning most Valuable Pitcher honors as a junior and senior. Named second team All-State as a senior. Was twice honored on the All-Dade County teams. Was 7-1 with 100 K's and 18 walks during senior regular season. Member of the `02 and `03 Perfect Game Champion Florida Bombers.

Personal: Born 8/22/85 to Rick and Gael Torcise in Homestead, Florida. A business management major. Likes fishing, football and ping pong in his spare time. Lord of the Rings trilogy and Anchorman are among his favorite movies. Barry Zito and Eric Byrnes are his favorite athletes and the Heat, Marlins, Dolphins and A's are his favorite teams. Mom's cooking is his favorite food. Would like to dine with Alexander the Great, Sandy Koufax and Socrates.
