2002: Earned Second Team All-Conference USA as the designated hitter. Hit .299 with seven doubles and 19 RBI. Had 14 multi-hit games including career-high four-hit game against WKU(4/30) in which he also drove in four runs and scored three times doubling and homering. Twelve of his 17 walks were in the final 17 games of the season. Singled and walked against Georgia in NCAA Regional in Atlanta(5/31). Was 7 for 11 in series against USF. Went 4 for 8 with four RBI in two game set against Charlotte. Member of AD and C-USA Honor Roll, Red & Black Scholar, Dean’s List, Dean’s Scholar and Academic Medal.
2001: Joined the Stanford Cardinal in their trip to Omaha in the College World Series. Was a late-inning defensive replacement behind the plate. Started seven consecutive games during a stretch in March where he had a five game hitting streak.
2000: Doubled in his first collegiate at-bat at Stanford. Saw action in eight games as a late-inning defensive replacement. Was behind the dish for the ninth inning of Stanford’s 14-9 loss to Alabama (5/28) in the NCAA Regional.
High School: Named the Ohio Division I Player of the Year as a senior, and made All-Steel Valley Conference all four years. Finished his career as the Spartans all-time leader in hits, home runs and RBI. Won the 1999 Easton Redline Defensive Award.
Personal: Born 7/17/80 in Youngstown, Ohio to Ken and Marian Tirpack. Majoring in economics at U of L. Would like to be a financial analyst. Biggest thrill in sports was shaking President Bush’s hand at the CWS in Omaha. When he isn’t playing baseball, you may find him jogging or reading. Favorite movies are Bull Durham and Dances With Wolves. Enjoys watching The Simpsons and Everybody Loves Raymond. Favorite food is chicken. His cousin played at Ohio State where he was third team All-American and drafted by the Twins. His dream dinner dates would be Jim Tressel, George Bush and Condoleeza Rice.
