2000: Took over the kicking duties for the Conference USA champion Cardinal football team and made his debut in it's huge win at #11 Southern Miss. He was 14-14 on PAT, 5-7 on FG's, 4-4 inside the 40 and hit a school record four FG's in the season finale at Houston. Redshirted in baseball. Played for the Costal Plain League's Peninsula Pilots, placing second inthe league with 18 steals.

High School: Competed in baseball, football and soccer at Pleasure Ridge Park in Louisville. One of five current Cardinals who attended PRP. Named all-state honorable mention once in soccer, he holds school records for goals in a game, season and career. As a kicker on the football team kicked a then state record 23 FG's his senior season including a 52-yarder. Competed in the all-state baseball game his senior year after hitting .461 for the Panthers.

Personal: Born 4/28/81 in Louisville. Parents are Sharon and Gerald. Is majoring in Finance. Biggest thrill in sports was playing in the 2000 Liberty Bowl. "Smitty" wears a size 6 3/4 cap. Dream golf foursome would include Lenny Dykstra, Ty Cobb and his brother,"because they are my three idols."
