2008 All-BIG EAST Tournament

2008: Hit .284 with 15 doubles, six home runs and 36 RBI, scoring 46 times in 59 games for the Cardinals. The prep infielder moved into the outfield where he started 35 games as a freshman. Was plunked 10 times on the season. Went 2-for-5 against Georgia (5/31) in the NCAA Regional. Named All-BIG EAST Tournament, going 7-for-18 with nine runs and four RBI during the four-game tournament. Drilled his sixth home run of the season, scoring four runs in BIG EAST semifinal win over Villanova (5/23). Doubled and scored twice in a 3-for-5 effort in win over Villanova (5/21), in the second round of the BE Championship. Was 2-for-4 with a double and a stolen base against RU (5/17). Lined a solo home run to center, putting the Cards up for good in win over Ball State (5/13). Was 2-for-3 with two RBI at WVU (5/11). Belted a two-run shot in win at IU (5/6). Drove in a pair of runs with a pair of doubles in a 3-for-4 effort in win over WKU (4/30). Led off the ninth with a single and scored the game-winning run in dramatic win over UK (4/22). Homered in the first and drove in three runs in the series opening win over Villanova (4/18). Collected first career four-hit game, scoring three runs in win over Marshall (4/9). Smoked a bases-clearing double against SJU (4/5). Logged two-hit games in a pair of midweek games (4/1 & 4/2). Belted a solo home run and was hit by a pitch in win at Pitt (3/30). His RBI single in the bottom of the 11th plated the game winner against Butler (3/26). Drilled the first pitch of the game out for his first career home run, and added a pair of doubles, driving in four and scoring four in win over Colonels (3/25). Posted a 10-game hit streak, gathering a hit in each of the first 10 games he played in. Had a pinch-hit single in win over N.C. State (2/29). Singled in two trips in his first start (2/24). Piped an RBI double and scored a run in his first collegiate at bat in win over CSU (2/22a).

High School: Played for the 2007 Connie Mack World Series champion Midland Redskins, going 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and five RBI in the championship game. The team posted a 54-6 record. Limited to just 15 games his senior season, still managing 12 extra base hits and 21 RBI. An All-Conference baseball and football selection for the Highlanders, Richmond hit .434 as a junior with 17 doubles, two triples and four home runs. He drove in 33, stole 11 bases and scored 55 runs, leading his team to a sectional championship. Batted .414 as a sophomore, scoring 40 runs. An All-City wide receiver selection.

Personal: Born 6/14/89 in Cincinnati to Heather and Jim Richmond. Is majoring in education at UofL. Derek Jeter is his favorite athlete along with LeBron James and Chad Johnson and he cheers for the Yankees and the Bengals. His favorite movie is 300 and he watches a lot of MTV and ESPN on TV. Frosted mini Wheats are his favorite cereal and he also likes to eat pizza and steak, while J & J's is his favorite restaurant. Listens to rap. Would like to play a round of golf with Jeter. His father played baseball at Eastern Kentucky.
