High School: Drafted #917 by the Cleveland Indians following his senior year. Was a four year letter winner for the Sullivan South Rebels in Kingsport, TN. Went 14-7 with eight saves and 136 strikeouts. Was named USA Today All-USA Honorable Mention.

Personal: Born 5/12/81 in Kingsport, Tennessee to James and Phyllis McKenzie. Is studying history at U of L. Lists his father as his biggest influence in athletics. Enjoys paintball in his spare time. Favorite athlete is Ty Cobb, favorite movies are Forrest Gump and Stand by Me.
