High School: Selected in the 37th round of the MLB Draft by the Boston Red Sox after finishing his senior season at Washington High School. Two-time All-State selection, two-time All-District and four-time All-Conference honoree at Washington High School, where he earned five letters and was coached by his father Scott Koch. As a senior, he was 7-1 on the mound with a 1.15 ERA and 105 strikeouts, while his junior season featured a 5-1 mark, four saves, a 2.08 ERA and 67 strikeouts. Was the winning pitcher as a sophomore for Washington's 2007 state championship winning team. Student Council President, Class President and member of National Honor Society. Also earned four letters in track and field as the school record holder in the high jump and two-time All-State honoree. Earned four letters in basketball and was an All-Conference selection and earned three letters in football as an All-District honoree.

Personal: Born on Nov. 2, 1990 in Storm Lake, Iowa. Son of Scott and Deb Koch. Has one brother, Jared, and one sister, Samantha. Undecided on his major at the University of Louisville. Biggest thrill in sports was being the winning pitcher for Washington's state title game triumph in 2007.
