2011: Hit .242 with five RBI in 22 games, including 19 starts. Had a pinch hit RBI single at Kentucky on April 26. Went 2-for-4 against USF on April 23. Was 2-for-4 with a run scored and first career RBI in April 21 win over Bulls. Had first career double and scored first career run against Indiana on April 19. Made fifth start of the season behind the plate and was 2-for-4 overall against St. John's on April 16. Returned to action as a defensive replacement on April 9 at Cincinnati. Was unable to play from March 12 through April 9 due to injured thumb on throwing hand. Was 1-for-3 at the plate in second career start at catcher on Feb. 26 against Toledo. Made first career start behind the plate going 1-for-3 against Ohio State on Feb. 19.

High School: Gibson was a First Team All-State selection and earned All-Region and All-District honors during his prep career at Henderson County High School, where he was coached by Nathan Isenberg. As a senior, he set school records with 20 home runs and seven triples and set a new state record for most consecutive games with a home run (five straight games and seven total homers). He hit .485 overall in his final season to go along with 67 RBI, 61 runs scored and 15 doubles. As a junior, he hit .454 with 33 RBI, 35 runs scored and 16 stolen bases, while his sophomore season finished with a .330 average, three home runs and 29 runs scored. He is Henderson County's career home run leader with 25 and career batting average leader at .408. He also lettered in football and soccer at Henderson County.

Personal: Born Kyle Andrew Gibson on April 24, 1992, in Henderson, Ky. Son of Jana and Steve Gibson. Has two siblings, Kera and Kole. Majoring in sport administration at the University of Louisville. After graduation, he plans to play professional baseball. People with the greatest influence on his athletic career are his mom, dad and family. Hobbies and outside interests include ping pong, sports and drawing. Enjoys watching Tosh.0, Saturday Night Live and Family Guy. Favorite athlete is Yadier Molina. Favorite cereal is Golden Grahams. Favorite foods are Chinese and barbeque. Favorite teams are the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Yankees. Enjoys listening to any kind of music.
