2011: Was 2-0 with a 2.00 ERA in 19 relief appearances on the mound. Also hit .143 in limited appearances as a position player. Came out of the bullpen for two scoreless appearances against Notre Dame. Made first career start in the outfield as the Cardinals' leftfielder on May 6 at Seton Hall. Had first career hit at the plate with a pinch hit single against Eastern Michigan on May 4. Struck out the side with a perfect seventh inning of relief at Western Kentucky on April 5. Pitched 0.2 innings of shutout relief at USC on March 15. Retired the only batter he faced in a brief relief appearance on March 5 against Kent State. Came out of the bullpen for first career appearance and earned the win against Toledo on Feb. 27 after allowing just one run on one hit with one strikeout in 2.0 innings of relief.
High School: Ege was a three-time All-State selection and finished with the seventh-lowest ERA in Iowa high school baseball history during his prep career at Washington High School, where he earned five letters and made five straight state tournament appearances with head coach Scott Koch. As a senior, he pitched a no-hitter with 21 strikeouts. He was an All-State honoree during his senior season after finishing with a 6-2 record on the mound with a 0.97 ERA and 130 strikeouts to go along with a .456 average at the plate with nine home runs, 34 RBI and 32 runs. He earned First Team All-State honors as a junior when he hit .477 with four home runs, 30 RBI, 29 runs scored and 14 stolen bases, while on the mound, he was 9-1 with a 0.22 ERA, the seventh-best ERA in Iowa prep history, and 115 strikeouts in 64 innings pitched. As a sophomore, he hit .478 with three home runs, 45 RBI, 36 runs scored and 19 stolen bases and was 12-0 on the mound with a 1.04 ERA and 84 strikeouts as Washington HS earned a state runner-up finish. As a freshman in 2007, he hit .369 with 24 RBI and 24 runs scored as Washington won the state title. He competed in the 2009 World Wood Bat Association World Championship, the 2009 WWBA Kernels Foundation Championship and the 2009 Top Prospect Midwest Showcase. He has also earned three letters in basketball.

Majoring in exercise science at the University of Louisville. Plans to teach and become a coach after college. People with the greatest influences on his career are his father and his brother Cory because they always pushed him to be the best. Something not many people know about Cody is that a Super Glue bottle blew up in his face and glued his eyes shut when he was young.
