Summer 2011: Was selected as Top Defensive Player and was an All-Star in the New England Collegiate Baseball League. Ended his summer hitting .276 with five home runs, 32 RBI, seven doubles and 35 runs scored in 48 games played for the league champion Keene Swamp Bats.
2011: Hit .233 with 16 RBI while playing in 56 games, including 49 starts. Was 1-for-3 with a run scored in win against St. John's at BIG EAST Championship. Also had a hit and a two runs scored in elimination game victory over Cincinnati at BIG EAST Championship. Finished with a hit in each of the Cards' three games against Notre Dame. Was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs on May 19 against Irish. Had an RBI and a run scored in win at Indiana on May 17. Went 2-for-3 in loss to No. 1 Vanderbilt. Was 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs in April 2 win over WVU. Went 2-for-3 with game-winning, two-out RBI single in the seventh inning of Cards' March 29 win over WKU. Had career best seven-game hitting streak halted on March 22. Finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored against Xavier on March 18. Was 2-for-2 in March 16 loss at USC. Finished 2-for-3 with a run scored in March 13 win at Pepperdine. Was 2-for-4 with career best three RBI and one run scored in win at Pepperdine on March 12. Went 2-for-4 with first two RBI of his career against Purdue on March 8. Broke through for his first career hit with a single against Kent State on March 5.
High School: Chittenden earned All-State honors, was named Conference Player of the Year and was All-County as a senior after hitting .588 with eight home runs, 16 doubles and 19 stolen bases for Lawrence Central and head coach Dan Roman. He earned All-Conference honors as a junior after hitting .477 with eight home runs, 16 doubles and 34 RBI and as a sophomore after hitting .452 with three home runs and 14 doubles. He was named to the Indianapolis Star Metro Super Team in 2009. He attended the Perfect Game National Showcase. He is a smooth defensive infielder with good bat speed and strong hands at the plate. He has also played for the Midland Redskins, where he won a National Championship, the Indiana Bulls and the Roundtripper Academy. Along with three years of baseball, he also earned two letters in soccer for Lawrence Central.
Personal: Born Alexander Peter Chittenden on Oct. 18, 1991, in Indianapolis, Ind. Son of Mike and Joan Chittenden. Has three older siblings, Patricia, Andy and Abby. Majoring in sport administration at the University of Louisville. Person with the greatest influence on his athletic career was his father, who did everything for him and gave him every opportunity to succeed. Hobbies and outside interests include ping pong.
