Named Most Valuable Player for the East Squad at the 2010 Under Armour All-American Game. Also competed at the 18U USA Trials and the Area Code Games. Earned All-American, All-State and All-Conference honors and was 22-2 in his prep career at Downers Grove South. As a senior, finished 7-1 with one save, a 1.21 ERA and 70 strikeouts. As a junior, was 9-0 with a 0.89 ERA, two saves and 90 strikeouts, while as a prep sophomore, was 6-1 with a 1.89 ERA, three saves and 52 strikeouts. Also earned two letters in football as a quarterback.
Personal: Born Nicholas Burdi on Jan. 19, 1993 in Hinsdale, Ill. Son of Bob and Debbie Burdi. Has two brothers, Drew and Zack. Majoring in sport administation at the University of Louisville. Biggest thrill in sports was winning the Central Regional to advance to the Connie Mack World Series. After college, he plans to play professional baseball. Person with the greatest influence on his athletic career was his dad because he always pushed him to achieve his dreams. Hobbies and outside interests include listening to music and hanging out with friends. Favorite movies are The Hangover, Miracle and The Shawshank Redemption. Favorite TV shows are Entourage, The League and The Office. Favorite athletes are Josh Beckett and Michael Jordan. Favorite food is chicken parmesan. Favorite teams are the Boston Red Sox and Chicago Blackhawks. Favorite restaurants are Carrabba's and Buffalo Wild Wings. Enjoys listening to just about any type of music. If he could have dinner with three people, he would invite his dad, Adam Sandler and Josh Beckett. His brother Drew played football at Western Michigan University.
