2003: The top hitter in C-USA during league play with a .444 average. Was 5th in slugging(.677) and first in on base %(.522). Hit .363 overall, good for 7th in the league, and had .486 OB%(3rd). Went 7 for 12 in the TCU series. Hit a three-run home run, going 2 for 5 in first game of Tulane set. Two for three with a double and home run in win over Morehead(4/30). Was 7 of 10 in doubleheader against ECU, completing a stretch of eight games that he was 21 for 37 with 13 RBI and seven multi-hit efforts. Was 3 for 4 in both games of the double header against Charlotte with a home run and a double, driving in four. Went 3 for 5 with three RBI in win at Xavier. Was 4 for 7 with three runs and two RBI in first two games of USF series, including first home run of the season, putting the Cards up 2-1 Saturday(3/29). Went 4 for 5 with two RBI against USM(3/21) and posted a 3 for 3 effort in the Sunday win over the Eagles, drilling a clutch two-out, two-run single to tie the game. Singled home the game tying run with two out in the bottom of the ninth in his first game as a Cardinal(2/22). Made AD and C-USA Honor Roll.

2002: Batted .307 with 13 home runs and 46 RBI for the North Carolina Tarheels as a sophomore. Hit a walk-off, three run home run in the season opener against Seton Hall(2/15) in the bottom of the ninth with his team trailing by a run. Was 4 for 5 with five RBI, and a grand slam in the Heel's win over Old Dominion(3/5). Against Maryland(3/17) was 4 for 6 with three RBI and four runs scored, doubling twice, hitting a triple and reaching base all six plate appearances. Was 3 for 5 against Towson(3/26), a triple away from the cycle. Was 5 of 11 in three game series against Miami(FL). Homered against Georgia Tech's Kyle Bakker and doubled off Wake's Kyle Sleeth. Was 5 for 16 with two HR in NCAA Tournament, on his way to being named to the All-Regional team.

2001: Started 31 games, while playing 45 as a freshman. Batted .267 with one home run and 17 RBI. Hit .345 with runners on base. Earned first four-hit game with a 4-for-5 outing in the first game of a doubleheader at NC State on April 2; had three singles an RBI double and scored twice.

High School: Earned All-Long Island honors all four years at St. John the Baptist High School under former major leaguer John Habyan. Selected as New York's top prep player and Top 100 nationally by Baseball America as well as 2000 Gatorade New York Player of the Year. Named league MVP while with the Cougars. Won a gold medal with the 15- and 16-year-old U.S. National Team.

Personal: Born 5/15/82 in Port Jefferson, New York to Ronald and Suzanne Braun. Has two younger brothers. Major is sports administration, and he would like to one day be an high school athletic director. Enjoys fishing in his spare time. Cheers for the Mets, Jets and Islanders. Favorite movies are Bull Durham and Days of Thunder. His dinner guests would include his favorite baseball players Babe Ruth and Tony Gwynn as well as Ted Williams. Once walked the Great Wall of China.
