2002: Scott lead the Cards in innings pitched, logging 85.1 frames in 13 starts and 16 overall appearances. Was second on the team with 68 strikeouts. Finished the regular season with back-to-back complete game efforts, first a four-hitter against UAB(5/12) in which he allowed one run on four hits, while fanning a career-high 10, walking none, and a five-hit shutout at East Carolina(5/18) where he struck out eight and walked four. Gave up just one earned run in 9.2 innings of relief, including 6.2 innings against Evansville(3/27), allowing and unearned run on five hits and no walks and six strikeouts. Tossed three complete games, including the Cards' only shutout. Pitched for the Danbury Westerners of the NECBL over the summer.
2001: Went 5-3 for the Kougars of Kishwaukee College in Malta, Illinois with 56 strikeouts and a 2.57 ERA. Named to the JC All-Region team following his sophomore campaign.
2000: Drafted by the New York Yankees in the 24th round of the 200- draft following his first season of baeseball at Kishwaukee.
High School: Lettered in basketball and baseball at Wateska High School, setting school records for strikeouts(116 in ’98) and ERA(1.16 in ’99). Was 6-2 with 101 K’s as a senior with the 1.16 ERA for the Warriors. Also hit .375 with three HR and 19 RBI as a senior. A three-year member of the All-Conference team, twice named All-Area. Was most valuable pitcher as a freshman and sophomore and MVP his final two seasons. Twirled a no-hitter in his first varsity start as a freshman and another his senior year. Struck out 17 in a game
Personal: Born 12/11/80 in Decatur, Illinois to Glen and Julie Barber. Majoring in sports administration at U of L with a minor in marketing. Lived down the street from J.D. Drew in Chesterfield, Missouri. Biggest thrills in sports were getting drafted and hitting a game winning home run in regionals his senior season. Enjoys fishing and playing guitar in his spare time. Lists his father and his JUCO coach Mike Davenport as his biggest athletic influences. Dream golf foursome would be Adam Duritz, the lead singer of his favorite musical group Counting Crows, Braveheart's William Wallace and his grandfather-"because that's who I got my athletic ability from, and I never had a chance to meet him before he passed." Once jumped off a 50 foot cliff into Table Rock Lake in Missouri. Has lived in eight different states, including six in the last four years.
