Cardinal Swimmers Adam Madarassy and Andrei Radzionau competed in their heats with both swimming their events faster than they have ever done in their lives.

Madarassy improved his entry time swimming a lifetime best 53.93 in the 100-Meter Butterfly and finishing in 50th place. The top qualifier in the event was Milorad Cavic or Serbia who went 50.76 to set an Olympic record to take the top seed. Michael Phelps was the second fastest qualifier with a time of 50.87.

Radzionau also swam a lifetime best establishing a new Belarus National Record in the 50-Meter Freestyle with a time of 22.65. The fastest qualifier in the event was Amaury Leveaux of France who swam 21.46 to set a new Olympic record in his heat.

"I am very pleased for our guys who are swimming their very best against the world's best," said Coach Arthur Albiero. "This has been a phenomenal meet and a fantastic experience. Up next, is Vali who will swim the breaststroke leg in the 4x100 Medley Relay."
