Swimming Closes Out IU Invitational With Six More Victories

The University of Louisville swimming and diving finished off the Indiana Hoosierland Invitational with six more wins to cap off the three-day event posting a meet total of 13 school records. In the first event of the evening, Raine Thompson took second in the 200-back, with a time of 2:00.36. For the men, Pedro Oliveira also posted a second, going 1:47.40. Peyton Bobo also finalled with an eighth place in 1:54.45. In the 100-free, the Cardinals swept the top spot on both the women's and men's side.
Amanda Henleben set two school records with a 16:39.91 in the 1650 free and a 10:03.48 in the 1000-free. She finished second in the 1650. Shane Lichtenberg won the 1650 for the Cardinals in 15:22.56.
Whitney Campbell was first for the women with a time of 49.81. Anna Dishuck was fifth, touching in 51.51. Andrei Radzionau was first for the men with a time of 51.51. Carlos Van Isschot was fourth, turning in a time of 44.65. The Cardinals did the same thing in the next event with Therese Bergstrom winning the 200-breast in 2:13.60. Fanny Lilliestrom finaled and went 2:20.91, good for seventh. Vali Preda won for the men in 1:58.16. Luke Wakefield was eighth in 2:09.29.
Pedro Oliveira won the 200-fly, posting a time of 1:46.70. Rafal Kuchta was third (1:48.55), Adam Madarassy was sixth (1:51.17) and Doug Dietrich rounded out the A-final field with a seventh place (1:51.67). Senior Jenny Schimenti was the top finisher in the 200-fly with a fifth place finish. Teammate Abby Miller was sixth in 2:06.39. In 400-free relay, the final event of the meet, the foursome of Aileen Cole, Anna Dishuck, Liz Halet and Whitney Campbell combined to post a time of 3:21.69, good for second place. The foursome of Brendon Andrews, Carlos Van Isschot, Alex Sweet and Andrei Radzionau posted a win in 2:55.59. |
