Freshman: As a freshman, Kara qualified for the BIG EAST. She also completed in three events at the Purdue Invitational. She finished first in the 100-free against Miami of Ohio and second in the 50-free against Pittsburgh. In the 100-back, Kara finished second against West Virginia and third against Kentucky. Kara's 200-medley relay team came in second against Kentucky.

Prep: Kara is a 15-time high school All-American as well as a Short Course National qualifier and was on the junior national championship winning relay. She is her high school record holder in the 50-free as well as three relay teams. Savegnago is the state record holder in the 200-medley and 200-free relays. She swam for Coach Bill Shalz and the Academy Bullets. Named to the All-State squad, she is a threetime team state champion and a high school state finalist for four years. She is a four-time relays state champion as well as a Scholar Athlete and team captain.

Personal: Daughter of Frank and Debbie Savegnago. Born Nov. 1, 1990. Major is business.
