Junior: One of the Cardinals' top point producer, Nils' wins were firsts in the 200-fly vs. EIU, XU, and SLU, in the 100-fly vs. WIU, IUPUI, XU and SLU. He was a stalwart on the relay teams as well, with firsts in the 400-medley relay against EIU, XU and SLU. He was also part of the winning 200-medley relay versus WIU, IUPUI. He posted the 10th best time in the conference in the 200-fly, was 12th in the 100-fly and 17th in the 200-IM in the regular season.
Sophomore: As a sophomore at the Midwest Championships, he set a school record in the 200-fly. He also was invaluable on the Cardinal Relay teams. He was part of both the 200- and 400-medley relay team, both of which finished as runner-up at the Midwest Championships.
Freshman: As a freshman, he finished second in the 200-fly and fourth in the 100-free at the 2000 SSI.
High School/Club: He swam four years for coach Bo Westergren at Kongsholmens Gymnasium. He placed second and third in the 200-fly and third in the 400-medley relay at the Junior Nationals. He was Kongsholmens' Athlete of the Year in 1998 and won the Sveriges Snyggaste Kille Award in 1999.
