Junior: As a junior, Ryan had
a strong showing at the Purdue
Invitational. He finished
in 58:00 in the 100-breast
and in 2:06.74 in the
200-breast. Ryan also finished
fourth against Indiana
in the 100-breast with a time of 58.32. He did
a lifetime best time of 56.71 in the 100-breast
at the Last Chance Meet at the University of
Tennessee.
Prior to U of L: Ryan transferred to
U of L from Indian River JC where he helped
his team to two straight NJCAA National
Championships. He competed at the NJCAA
Championships in the 100- and 200-breast
and was an All-American in the 200-breast.
Prep: He was All-State all four years at Enloe
High School and helped the 200-medley
relay team win state as both a junior and
senior which made him a High School All-
American.. He was All-Conference all four
years and earned
All-State honors as
a junior and senior.
He swam for RSA
(Raleigh Swim Association)
for Kit Raulerson and went to Junior
Nationals as a sophomore, junior and senior.
RSA won Junior Nationals when he was a
sophomore.
Personal: Son of Tom and Gwen
Cox. Born Sept. 18, 1989. He plans on majoring
in sports administration. His brother Allan
swam for Savannah College of Art&Design.
Cardinal Highlight: Ryan helped Indian
River to two national championships during
his tenure there.
