Men's Swimming Set to Make Historic Run in NCAAs

Cardinals send 13 swimmers to Washington

Junior: Before the conference championships, Collins had a great performance against Cincinnati, finishing first in the 100-fly with a time of 50.11. During the BIG EAST Championships, he competed in the 100- and 200-fly as well as the 100-back. He swam the fastest time in the 100-fly preliminaries, touching with a B-cut mark of 48.15. Collins swam the 100-back in 49.42 and finished fifth. In the 200-fly he had a time of 1:50.48 and finished in eighth place. Collins was an All-BIG EAST performer in the 100-fly.

Sophomore: As a sophomore, Tim made the A-finals in the 100-yard butterfly event at the BIG EAST championship, where he finished with a time of 48.61 for fifth place. Collins made the B-final in the 200-IM and the B-final in the 200-fly for the Cards.

Freshman: As a freshman, Tim competed at the World Trials, where he swam third as part of the winning 4x100 Medley Relay, that finished first in 3:44.63. Tim made the A-finals of the 100-fly and finished fourth with a time of 48.12. He was fifth in the B-finals in the 200-IM, posting a time of 1:51.88.

Prep: Tim joined the Cardinals from New Albany High School where he lettered four years for Dave Wharton. He also swam for Greater Columbus Swim Team of Ohio for Steve Nye. He earned All- American honors 11 times, was All-State 15 times and was named team MVP twice. He was the Ohio State Champion in the 100-fly. He was an Olympic Trial Qualifier in the 100-fly (lcm) where he posted a 55.5 and earned an invitation to the National Select Camp in Colorado Springs. He made the 2008 Olympic Trials cut in the 100-fly LCM with a time of 55.5. He chose U of L over North Carolina.
