Last year as a sophomore, John Bell continued to add depth to the distance events for the Cardinals. He finished 17th in the 1650-free with a lifetime best for the Cardinals at the BIG EAST. As a freshman, John set his lifetime best in the 500-free at the Indiana Invitational. He also put up new bests in the 1000-free against BIG EAST rival WVU and in the 1650-free against WKU. He comes to U of L from Louisville's St. Xavier High School. A Lakeside swimmer, he helped the Seahawks to a first place finish in the Kentucky State Meet in 2005 and had a 5th place finish in the 1650-free. He was coached by Mike DeBoor. At the Kentucky High School State Meet, he helped St. Xavier to a state championship in 2005 and finished fourth in the 500-free.

Personal: He plans on majoring in business. He is the son of Edward and Barbara Bell. He was born Sept. 2, 1986.
