Junior: Sarah Andrews was an All-BIG EAST selection in
two events. During the BIG
EAST championships, she
competed in the 400- and
800-free relays as well as the
200-fly and the 200-free. In
the 800-free relay, she posted a split time of
1:51.62, helping her team to a 7:20.40 finish
and the third place title, making the national
B cut. In the 200-fly, Sarah finished with a
time of 2:01.36 to come in sixth place. In
the 200-free, she won the B-final with a time
of 1:49.07 which was an NCAA B cut. Her
50.43 split in the 400-free relay propelled her
team to a second place finish with a time of
3:20.00. The time set a pool record and also
made a B-cut.
Sophomore: As a sophomore,
Sarah was named All-BIG EAST. She helped
set two school records as a member of the
BIG EAST Championship 400-free relay team
with her split of 50.45 as the Cardinals posted
a time of 3:18.16. Her other contribution to a
school record was a 1:49.49 split in the 800-
free relay as the Cardinals went 7:16.14. She
made the A-final in the BIG EAST in the 100-
free with a time of 50.73
Freshman: Sarah had
an immediate impact during her first year on
the Cardinal roster, scoring key points for the
Cards in the butterfly and freestyle events. At
the BIG EAST Championships, she achieved
All-Conference Honors, placing 3rd in the
200-Freestyle with a 1:49.24. She was also
an integral member of both the 400-Medley
and 800-Freestyle relays, each one finishing in
school record time.
Prep: Sarah, a ninetime
High School
All-American, came
to Louisville from
John Leonard High
School and the Lake
Lytal Lightning in West Palm Beach, Fla.
where she was coached by her father, Gordon
Andrews. At the Florida 3A State Championships
in 2006, Sarah was the runner-up in
the 100-fly posting a time of 55.88. She also
finished third in the 100-free. Andrews was
named the Most Valuable Swimmer at the
2004 and 2006 Palm Beach County High
School Swimming Championships. She was
also recruited by Rutgers, Kentucky and Florida.
Personal: She is the daughter of Gordon
and Melanie Andrews. She plans on majoring
in health and human performance. She was
born December 7, 1988.
