  • Cardinal Creed Events - Cardinal Creed events are for sophomores, juniors and seniors and occur four times throughout the school year. These events address various topics pertinent to helping our student-athletes become prepared for life after college athletics. In 2007-08, topics included nutrition, relationships, alcohol use, community involvement, financial planning and career development.

  • Cardinal Cup - The Cardinal Cup is a competition between every team throughout the school year. Student-athletes earn points by attending events and participating in community service during the year. At the end of the year, points will be totaled and the male team and female team winner of the Cardinal Cup will be crowned at the annual All Sports Banquet. The respective male and female eam winners will also be awarded with adidas products for each athlete on your team.

  • Healthy Lifestyles - In an effort to educate student-athletes on the importance of this component in the early stages of their collegiate career, student-athletes are required to take this course. The purpose of this course falls in line with the overall goals and objectives of the LCare Program and is designed specifically to explore the biological, psychological, and sociological influences that promote healthy lifestyles and wellness.

  • Menu Picks - Continuing education occurs each semester with coaches organizing 2-3 menu picks for their teams. These workshops are conducted by Performance Team Members, University of Louisville Staff, Athletic Department Staff, and Community Volunteers. Menu pick options for 2007-08 (PDF).

  • Protecting our N.E.S.T. (Nurturing Every Student-Athlete Together) - This is a mentorship program developed by a group of our student-athlete leaders. The purpose is to bring all student-athletes together by promoting good decision making and providing guidance to underclassmen. Freshmen and sophomores are matched with junior and senior mentors and participate in designated mentee/mentor events throughout the year.

  • Performance Team - This team has been created to assist in the personal and athletic development of the Cardinal student-athlete. The education, assistance, and action models are supported by a team of talented athletic trainers, nutritionists, strength and conditioning coaches, physicians, sport psychologists, athletic department administrators and numerous other specialists. Performance team programming gives student-athletes and coaches the opportunity to gather information to support a healthy lifestyle and achieve optimum athletic performance.

  • Seminars - The LCare Program sponsors guest speakers to address the student-athletes, spirit groups, and coaching staffs during each academic year. Guest speakers are asked to address personal development and social issues. These speakers include Performance Team members, Community Agencies, Athletic Department Staff, and University of Louisville Faculty/Staff.
